AI safety and medical disclaimer
AskMama is an AI-powered companion designed to support parents and caregivers with general newborn-care information and parenting assistance.
It is not a medical professional or emergency service.
No diagnosis or treatment
The AI does not diagnose illnesses, confirm allergies, prescribe medication or replace an examination by a qualified healthcare professional. Its responses are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete or inappropriate for your baby's particular circumstances.
Newborn health concerns
Newborns can become seriously ill in a short period. If your baby has difficulty breathing, fever, convulsions, poor feeding, unusual inactivity, abnormal skin colour or temperature, or another concerning symptom, seek urgent medical assessment. Do not wait for an AI response.
For a medical emergency, contact your local emergency service or go to the nearest appropriate emergency medical facility.
Allergies and medication
Information entered into the application does not constitute a confirmed medical record or allergy diagnosis. Do not use the AI as the sole basis for giving medication, selecting a dosage, introducing a suspected allergen or deciding that a substance is safe for your baby.
No continuous monitoring
Unless a specific feature expressly states otherwise, the Service does not continuously monitor your baby, observe physical symptoms or guarantee that a dangerous condition or emergency will be detected.
Notifications and reminders may be delayed, interrupted or unavailable.
Your responsibility
Use the Service as a supplementary source of general information. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical decisions, and follow professional advice regarding your baby's care.
By continuing to use the Service, you acknowledge these limitations. Nothing in this notice removes any legal rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Additional provisions
A. No guarantee of medical accuracy
The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate responses and may produce inaccurate, incomplete or inappropriate information. The Company does not guarantee that the Service will identify every potentially serious symptom, recognise every allergy, or provide information suitable for every individual child.
The Service must not be used as the sole basis for a medical decision. Where a concern involves a newborn's health, users should seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
This clause does not exclude any liability or legal obligation that cannot lawfully be excluded.
B. Emergency escalation
The Service is not an emergency response system. If information supplied by a user indicates a possible medical emergency, the Service should, where technically feasible, display clear instructions to seek urgent medical assistance.
The Service does not guarantee that its AI will recognise every emergency, that an alert will be generated, or that an alert will reach a parent, caregiver or healthcare professional.
Users must not delay seeking emergency assistance while waiting for an AI response.
C. Child-data access and authorisation
Users must have the appropriate legal authority to submit and manage a child's personal information. The Company will implement reasonable measures to protect children's information and restrict access to authorised users.
Requests to access, correct, export or delete a child's information will be handled in accordance with applicable law and the Company's Privacy Policy.
D. No substitute for professional care
The Service supplements, but does not replace, professional healthcare, parental supervision or appropriate newborn care. Parents and caregivers remain responsible for seeking professional assistance and following appropriate medical guidance.
Nothing in these provisions removes rights, duties or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.
